Prof. Piotr Eder, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the College of Medical Sciences of the Poznan University of Medical Sciences and an employee of the Chair and Department of Gastroenterology, Dietetics and Internal Medicine, won the award for the best scientific paper submitted to the congress of the Polish Society of Gastroenterology.
The paper, ‘Autoimmune pancreatitis in patients with inflammatory bowel diseases – results of the international ECCO Confer Cases study’, describes the largest cohort of patients with coexisting inflammatory bowel diseases and autoimmune pancreatitis in the world to date.
The findings were also recently published in the renowned journal, the Journal of Crohn’s and Colitis. The publication details the differences in the clinical characteristics of the two disease entities when they co-occur and identifies risk factors for complications of autoimmune pancreatitis, classified as a rare disease.
