Dr Piotr Rzymski, Department of Environmental Medicine of the Medical University of Poznań won a distinction in the 16th Science Popularizer competition. The jury of the competition selected the winner of the Main Prize from among 100 candidates and awarded prizes in the following categories: scientist, animator, team, institution and media.

Dr Piotr Rzymski has for many years been involved in the popularization of research mainly in the field of medical and environmental biology. He runs a blog “Przez Żołądek do Zdrowia”, writes articles for the “Polityka” weekly, and during the COVID-19 pandemic, he presents the latest scientific knowledge about SARS-COV-2 in the media.

The Science Popularizer competition is the oldest competition in Poland, which awards scholars, media people, institutions and social activists share knowledge and reveal the secrets of modern science in an accessible way. The competition is organized by the Science in Poland website of the Polish Press Agency and the Ministry of Education and Science.
