Scientist of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń nominated for the Heisig Award

Prof. Dariusz Chruściński from the Faculty of Physics, Astronomy and Applied Computer Science at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń is one of three Polish researchers nominated for the Heisig Prize, called the Polish equivalent of the Nobel Prize – the highest financial scientific award in Poland. 

Prof. Dariusz Chruściński deals with the mathematical aspects of quantum physics. He is the author and co-author of over 170 publications in international journals, cited over 4,300 times. He wrote together with Andrzej Jamiołkowski the monograph “Geometric Phases in Classical and Quantum Mechanics” and published it in Boston in the prestigious series “Progress in Mathematical Physics”

The Heisig Award and 200,000 PLN will be granted this year for the first time. It is awarded by the University of Wrocław. Candidates could be nominated by the senates of twenty Polish universities that took part in the Initiative of Excellence – Research University competition in 2018.
