Prof. Roman Czaja, scientist of the Faculty of Historical Sciences of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń won the prestigious Eike von Repkow Award. He was appreciated for his entire scientific and organizational work, above all for his many years of contribution to Polish-German reconciliation conducted through deepened scientific cooperation.
The Eike von Repkow Award is granted jointly by the City of Magdeburg and the Otto von Guericke University. The laureates are selected from people who focus in their work on the history and culture of Saxony-Anhalt and take into account its complex ties with other regions of Europe. The winners can be writers or scientists whose work contributed to the broadening and popularization of knowledge about Central Germany, especially in the field of history, history of law, German studies and social sciences.
Prof. Czaja is the second Polish who won the Award. In 2004 it was won by Prof. Danuta Janicka, scientist of the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Toruń.
