Dr Illia Serdiuk from the University of Gdańsk will carry out the project “Two current problems, one solution: improved organic materials for OLED and hydrogen photoproduction”. Research work will be financed thanks to a grant of the National Center for Research and Development under the Lider program. The subsidy amounts to PLN 1.5 million.
The project focuses on two topical issues: the improvement of the “all-organic” OLED technology in the red and near infrared (NIR) range and the development of a technology for producing hydrogen from water using organic catalysts and renewable energy source – sunlight.
The use of cheap, low-toxic, efficient and easy-to-recycle organic materials is to lower the price and bring closer the appearance of environmentally friendly flexible, lightweight, transparent smartphones and OLED displays on the market, and to find a new solution for the production of clean fuel of the future, which is considered hydrogen.
