Dr Marcin Kadej from the University of Wrocław was invited to participate in specialist international dipterological workshops under the auspices of the European Association for Forensic Entomology.
Dr Kadej is the head of the Laboratory of Forensic Biology and Entomology. He is one of 12 participants, specialists in the field of so-called forensic science, representing forensic medicine and forensic entomology. Other experts of the workshops come from Belarus, South Korea, Germany, South Africa, Romania, Switzerland, Great Britain and Italy. The participants are improving their skills in identifying key species of flies relevant to forensic entomology. Exercises will allow them to learn the morphological features necessary for proper taxonomic identification at the level of both juvenile (larva) and adult forms. This is of great importance for further reasoning, for example, about the post mortem intervallum (PMI).
