Dr Eng. Jerzy Łątka, an architect and scientist from the Faculty of Architecture of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology, became one of the 10 finalists of FameLab – an international competition that helps science promoters to improve their ability to speak simply about complex scientific issues.

– I was talking about my research on the possibilities of using paper in architecture – says Dr Łątka. – I focused on the impact of the construction industry on the natural environment, I talked about the opportunities and risks associated with paper, as well as about paper products that can already be used as construction materials today.

The final of the competition is scheduled for May 16. Dr Łątka will prepare a presentation, in which he will focus on the assistance aspect of paper architecture – on preparing homes for victims of natural disasters and armed conflicts.
