Researchers from the West Pomeranian University of Technology (ZUT) and PPHU POLIGRAF Wiesław Kasprowiak took 1st place in the competition of the Association of Polish Mechanical Engineers and Technicians – SIMP for the ‘Best Technical Achievement of the Year 2022’ in the category of achievements implemented in industry. The winners were recognised for creating a super-efficient printer-moulder.
The machine prints using plastic pellets rather than polymer wire – filament. It then changes the head itself to give the final shape to the printed object using a cutter without having to transfer it to another machine.
‘What sets our machine apart is its kinematics and versatility. All the equipment is integrated into the robotic arm, making it possible to print and process very large parts in a short time. This is how e.g. car body elements or boat hulls can be created’, says Marcin Gołaszewski from ZUT.
