Researchers at the Poznań University of Medical Sciences have developed the “iWound” application – a tool that through analysis and efficient data management, can help the patient in caring for the wound and improve the treatment process.
Developed by a team of physicians, IT specialists and patients from the Department of General, Endocrine and Gastroenterological Surgery at the Poznan University of Medical Sciences, the application is part of a comprehensive patient monitoring system under and after hospitalization. It also allows effective prevention and reduction of the risk of surgical site infection, which is one of the biggest problems of surgical wards.
The team under the direction of Prof. Tomasz Banasiewicz managed to create a unique and innovative tool that can not only significantly help the patient in the care of the wound, but also helps the medical staff, facilitates the contact with a specialist and facilitates the treatment process.
