12.06.2020

Scientists from the Wrocław University of Science and Technology have constructed a sluice that facilitates disinfection of medical staff who care for people infected with coronavirus. The installation is easy to assemble, and its cost does not exceed 2 thousand PLN. When the solution is ready, the project of it will be made available for free to all interested parties.

The sluice is made of aluminum grooved profiles, the walls are made of cellular polycarbonate and can be assembled using a special double-sided tape. All elements are easily available, they can be found in any DIY store.

After assembly, the installation consists of two rooms – “clean” and “dirty”. Leaving the room with infected patients, the doctor enters the dirty room, in which he removes the visor, suit, mask and gloves, throws things into the trash bin and disinfects himself. Only after it he can go to the “clean” room, where he disinfects himself again.
