Scientists from the Faculty of Mechanics and Energy of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology are working on an alternative cooling system. Their solution will be based on innovative refrigerants and innovative energy storage technology. The research is carried out in cooperation with PROZON – Climate Protection Foundation and partners from Spain.
COOLSPACES 4 LIFE Project will be run for five years. The researchers intend to design, construct and test a pilot system for alternative cooling. It will consist of a cooling device developed by them with a capacity of 70 kW powered by renewable energy, combined with an innovative energy storage and a smart control system.
The works are carried out under the prestigious LIFE program, financed by the European Commission, co-financed by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management. The project’s budget is nearly PLN 9 million.
