The Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (UMCS) in Lublin, together with the KOMAG Institute of Mining Technology, the Institute of Real Raw Materials and Energy Management of the National Academy of Sciences and LW Bogdanka, have signed an agreement whose main objective will be to develop and implement a system that will help improve the efficiency of water management.
The agreement concerns cooperation in the development and implementation of an IT system for monitoring and forecasting the impact of hydrogeological and hydrological changes on the biotic and abiotic environment in rock masses transformed by anthropogenic activity in order to increase the efficiency of water management and strengthen the potential of small-scale retention.
In the cooperation initiated in the Lublin Voivodeship, a system for monitoring water in mine workings and mines will be set up to reduce the harmful effects of mining on the environment. This will be a pilot programme to be implemented nationwide in the future.
