Scientists to study the habits of Warsaw squirrels

11.02.2019

Scientists of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences will conduct research on the habits of Warsaw squirrels. Scientists will take a closer look at rodents living in the Łazienki Park and the Las Natoliński. The animals are already equipped with special transmitters.

Research in the Royal Łazienki Park and the Las Natolinski will allow to compare the habits of independent herds inhabiting green areas with various degrees of human interference.

In the experiment, the scientists will use the so-called CMR (capture-mark-recapture) method. This means that the squirrels were marked with earrings with an individual number and equipped with radlets with radiotelemetric transmitters. Research conducted in the winter will allow to deduce how different sources of food may influence squirrels.
