In Warsaw on October 23-24, 2018, SECURE 2018 conference on IT security was held. Its organizers were the NASK National Research Institute (NASK PIB) together with NASK SA and the CERT Polska team operating within the NASK PIB.
Cyberthreats are not just hacking servers and stealing data. A large part of cybercrime is fraud, similar to common theft, and the only difference is the use of the Internet as a method of communication – said Krzysztof Silicki, the head of NASK PiB.
During the first 9 months of 2018, CERT Polska – a security response team operating within NASK on cybersecurity reported 2690 incidents in Polish networks related to security breaches on the Internet. More than half of them were computer frauds, among which phishing i.e. false e-mail correspondence or websites aimed at extorting money or confidential information was most frequently reported.
