The university council is a new body, introduced by the Law on Higher Education and Science, which entered into force on October 1, 2018.

In the 6-person Board of the University of Bialystok (UWB), the university will be represented by three people:
– Prof. Leonard Etel – Rector of the University of Bialystok in 2012-2016,
– Prof. Beata Izabella Godlewska-Żyłkiewicz – dean of the Faculty of Biology and Chemistry, member of the Analytical Chemistry Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences,
– Tomasz Zalewski, Chancellor of the UB.
The members of the University Council from outside the UwB include:
– Piotr Horba, – director of the Business and Corporate Banking Center in Białystok, Santander Bank Polska,
– Robert Mucha – Sales and Marketing Director at Witraż company,
– Andrzej Parafiniuk, – president of the Podlasie Regional Development Foundation. Andrzej Parafiniuk became the chairman of the UwB Council.
