Silesian Wind Turbine

Scientists from the Silesian University of Technology have developed a wind turbine that will allow domestic installations to be supplemented with another source of green energy. The Silesian Wind Generator – unlike typical ‘windmills’ – has a turbine with a vertical, rotating axis. – has a turbine with a vertical, rather than horizontal, axis of rotation,’.

The technology used by the team of researchers from the Silesian University of Technology makes the turbine operate more quietly, and the special design is to enable power production even at low wind speeds. An additional advantage is that such turbines operate regardless of wind direction, which makes them very attractive compared to their horizontal counterparts.

The developers of the device want their turbines to be able to be used in domestic installations, but also on large-scale facilities. Work on the Silesian Wind Generator is still in progress. The researchers are using, among other things, a wind tunnel and systems to monitor air flow in their work.
