The Silesian University of Technology and the City of Bytom have concluded an agreement on the revitalization of post-mining areas. The document will allow to undertake joint activities and create projects for the implementation of which the commune will try to obtain funding – including the Just Transformation Fund.
Bytom is one of the cities in Upper Silesia that was most affected by the economic transformation in the 1990s. The liquidation of industrial plants, smelters and mines resulted in the creation of many degraded areas.
Scientists from the Silesian University of Technology together with the City of Bytom want to develop and implement regeneration activities. Researchers will focus primarily on areas such as energy, the use of renewable energy sources, information technologies and the revitalization of post-industrial areas and facilities.
