The Silesian University of Technology was honored the award “For merits for inventiveness” by the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland. The award was received by the vice-rector for student affairs and education, Dr Eng. Tomasz Trawiński, during the ceremony at the Royal Castle in Warsaw.
The award ceremony was part of the celebrations of the jubilee year of the centennial of the establishment of industrial property protection and the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland and the profession of patent attorney. The Patent Office of the Republic of Poland, established on December 28, 1918 by the decree of the head of state Józef Piłsudski, was one of the first state institutions established after regaining independence.
The honorary medal “For merits for inventiveness” was awarded for the first time in 1993-2000 and again from 2003, to individuals, institutions, organizations and associations distinguished by achievements in the development and popularization of inventiveness.
