Scientists from the Silesian University of Technology has developed the CIRCA internet system supporting work related to COVID-19 imaging diagnostics. The Ministry of Science and Higher Education has allocated 600,000 PLN to co-finance this system.
The CIRCA internet system is designed to support and accelerate COVID-19 imaging diagnostics at Hospital Emergency Departments. The tool uses machine learning techniques that will allow doctors on duty in emergency rooms and hospital wards to perform a preliminary assessment of the changes in the lungs of patients with respiratory disorders.
The system, developed in cooperation with the Polish Medical Society of Radiology, will enable the identification of patients requiring different supplies from medical staff. It will also facilitate diagnostics in the case of a large number of infections, giving the possibility of isolating people at high risk of having changes typical for COVID-19 on the basis of generally available X-ray examination.
