The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Silesian University of Technology started the Academy of Materials Science and Technology. It is attended by 300 pupils, qualified from secondary schools. Each participant will take part in eight thematic laboratory classes and will listen to four popular lectures.

– This is an initiative created for talented young people and creative teachers, the first on such a scale in the field of materials science and technology – says the program coordinator, Dr Agata Śliwa.

Selected lectures are held in the form of popular science talks, which allow students to discover scientific facts about materials and technologies of the future. After the lectures, participants in small laboratory groups can literally touch the discussed issues within a strictly planned classes.

Due to the great interest, the organizers will launch the Academy also in future.
