Silesian University of Technology was awarded the Elsevier Research Impact Leaders prize in the category of social sciences. The prize is awarded to universities, whose publications had the greatest impact on the perception of Polish science in the world. The award was received by the Vice-Rector for Science and Development, Prof. Eng. Marek Pawełczyk.

The award was result of the very high share of publications in the highest-cited magazines and the related citation rate. Special attention of the jury was attracted by primarily publications in the field of restructuring.

The Elsevier Research Impact Leaders prize, awarded for the first time in 2016, is part of the Elsevier global initiative to support research and the development of science. The intention of the Elsevier Award is to identify and grant universities whose latest scientific works have the greatest impact on the image of Polish science in the world.
