Representatives of Polish science institutions are planning to establish a National Renewable Energy Research and Implementation Centre (PolRES Living Lab). The centre is a unique concept involving the construction of local, innovative demonstration facilities in the area of renewable energy sources.
As part of the PolRES Living Lab, the establishment of a Science Centre is planned. The Silesian University of Technology has declared its willingness to participate in its creation. Among other things, the university offers the possibility of conducting research related to the development of hydrogen production technology and hydrogen-based methanol production from renewable energy sources (RES), the development of models and forecasts related to national energy security, and energy storage using hydrogen.
The establishment of the PolRES Living Lab will allow the integration of RES infrastructure, eco-energy, hydrogen technologies and the RES sector, especially offshore wind, which are being researched by several leading scientific and industrial centres in the country, the university reports.
