The Center for Climate and Environmental Protection has started operating at the Silesian University of Technology. The main mission of the Center is scientific and didactic activity and promotion of innovative technologies for climate and environmental protection.

The research works of the Center will be devoted to factors influencing and anticipating climate change. The subject of its activity includes also education and engaging students of the Silesian University of Technology and Silesians in activities for climate and environmental protection in Poland and in the world.

The idea of creating the Center was born in 2018, during a visit of Bertrand Piccard – traveler, innovator, president of the Solar Impulse foundation, doctor honoris causa of the Gliwice university to the Silesian University of Technology. The local administration of Gliwice, the Upper Silesian and Zagłębie Metropolis have been invited to cooperate in the creation of the Center.
