Solar panels imitating plants – an innovative project of a student of the AGH University of Science and Technology

27.12.2018

Karolina Gocyk, student of the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow has developed an innovative device for controlling solar panels. The structure imitates the movements of plants following the most favorable sunshine.

The project assumes placing a solar panel on a stem-shaped skeleton, which has smaller solar cells and the mechanisms controlling the structure connected to them. The skeleton is flexible and can move freely towards the changing position of the sun. It allows the panels to change the angle of inclination depending on the incidence of light, in order to use solar energy as effectively as possible.
Karolina Gocyk won her award for the project during the Gdynia E(x)plory Week Festival 2018.
