SOLARIS National Synchrotron Radiation Center is launching the Phelix research line.
The commissioning process is currently underway, including i.e. calibration of all its devices and X-ray optics. The designed energetic resolving power has already been achieved for one of the three diffraction gratings – says Dr Eng. Magdalena Szczepanik-Ciba.
The Phelix line will use soft X-rays. Its research station will enable a wide range of spectroscopic and absorption studies, characterized by different surface sensitivity.
Except collecting standard high-resolution spectra, it will allow to map the band structure in three dimensions and to detect electron spin in three dimensions. Users will be able to research new materials, thin layers and multilayers, catalysts and biomaterials, study the surface of solid materials, surface polarized spin states and chemical reactions occurring on the surface.
