A ceremony was held at the headquarters of the Foundation for Polish Science (FNP) to present diplomas to laureates of the START 2022 programme. These prestigious scholarships for outstanding young scholars were awarded for the thirtieth time.
In his congratulatory speech addressed to the incoming scholarship holders, Professor Maciej Żylicz, President of the FNP, emphasised that this year’s competition is special, due to the 30th anniversary of the START programme, in which the Foundation has awarded a total of over 3,300 promising young scientists and scholars, granting them a total of more than PLN 90 million in funding.
This year, as many as 77 experts and reviewers participated in the evaluation process of 794 applications submitted for the competition.
The START programme of the Foundation for Polish Science is the oldest scholarship programme in Poland for the best young scientists representing all fields of science. Its aim is to support outstanding young scholars under thirty. Each year, the Foundation for Polish Science awards 100 individuals. The winners receive an annual individual scholarship of PLN 28,000. They can spend it on any purpose.
