The State Academy of Applied Sciences in Nysa (PANS) has implemented a modern “Jasmin” Crisis Management System. Only three universities in Poland currently have this system. It has raised the standard of teaching, and, in the long run, ‘Jasmin’ will also help to increase the safety of the region’s residents.
“It is designed to support the planning process that is carried out in the district crisis management teams. Floods, fires and windstorms – these are the 3 most common natural disasters occurring in Poland. We, at our university, are implementing the system using the example of a flood hazard occurring in the Nysa district from the Biała Głuchołaska river”, says PANS lecturer in Nysa, Dr Grzegorz Kwaśniak.
The system offers many possibilities for, among others, coordinating the activities of public administration. It allows the introduction of new organisational units on maps.
