The State Higher Vocational School in Tarnobrzeg has started application process for a new field of study – psychology. This is the only public university in the Podkarpackie Region that will educate masters in this field.

Psychology is an extraordinary study needed in Podkarpacie. Its graduates will work in various institutions that at the time of creating this course asked for cooperation in this field. The specialty “penitentiary psychology” will arise as a response to the needs of prisons and detention centers, in particular the Ministry of Justice, in connection with the need to educate as people prepared to work with socially derailed people and criminals are necessary – says the rector of Tarnobrzeg PWSZ Paweł Maciaszczyk.

The study is assuming the plans to build a modern women’s prison in Chmielów in the Tarnobrzeg poviat, where up to 460 convicts can be detained. The therapeutic department for women addicted to alcohol will also be built on its premises.
