Justyna Górska, a doctoral student at the Faculty of Chemistry, Gdańsk University of Technology, took third place in the competition of the French Culture Center “My diploma thesis in 180 seconds”.
The competition takes place in Poland for the second time. This year it was conducted online due to the epidemic situation. Nine doctoral students from all over Poland presented their research, which they are conducting as their doctoral studies, in the recordings. They had a maximum of three minutes for this task.
The area of the laureate’s research interests is aromatic polyene macrolides (AMP) and antifungal antibiotics. Their mechanism of action has not been fully understood yet. It is known that they would be used in the effective treatment of various types of systemic mycoses occurring in humans, occurring as a result of impaired immunity, including after chemotherapy and transplantology. However, it should be noted that they are very toxic to humans.
