Michał Ptak, an architecture student at the Krakow University of Technology (PK), won the second prize in the international architectural competition for the design of the first colony on Mars.
The concept of “The One to Three Shelter” was awarded with a prize of 5,000 dollars. It assumes the construction of a modular and multifunctional residential base on Mars, which will be a safe shelter, a laboratory for research and a place for exercise and rest. The competition design was Michał Ptak’s master’s thesis, delivered in the summer at the Faculty of Architecture of the PK.
The “First Colony on Mars” competition was organized as part of the KLAF 2019 international architectural festival in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Over 120 projects from around the world have been submitted to the competition.
