Employees and students of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology joined the production of protective equipment that can be used by doctors during an epidemic. Thanks to the use of 3D printing technology at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering they are producing protective helmets.
Six devices have been launched at the Department of Laser Technologies, Automation and Production Organization, which will produce almost 150 helmets in four days. In addition to printing directly and preparing the helmet for assembly, employees along with students of the mechanical faculty optimized the existing helmet model, initially delivered by company Prusa Research.
The model has been optimized through replacing the hard-to-reach PVA / PETG front cover, by A4 size binding foil. In addition, printing time has been reduced and the visibility of the helmet has been improved.
