Students from Olsztyn receive a grant from the Polish Universities Forum

The Student Scientific Club of Plant Raw Materials Processing Technologists operating at the Faculty of Food Science at the University of Warmia and Mazury (UWM) in Olsztyn has received a grant from the Polish Universities Forum.

UWM students won this year’s “Get a grant from FUniP!” competition and will receive PLN 7 000 to carry out their scientific research. Their project is titled ‘Awareness, knowledge and interest in consumption, i.e. edible insects as an alternative source of protein – a study of interest among catering school students’.

The Student Scientific Club of Plant Raw Material Processing Technologists collaborates on this project with the Scientific Club of Nutrition and Nutrition Prevention, which also works at the UWM Faculty of Food Science. Upcoming plans include scientific publications, participation in scientific conferences, as well as presentations for students of catering schools, organoleptic evaluation of bread and a presentation on edible insects. Funding for these activities will be covered by a grant.
