Students of the Poznan University of Technology Aviation Club have constructed an unmanned aerial vehicle that will take part in three competitions of the SAE Aero Design.
February 23-24. 2018 – as the only European team – PP students will participate in Mexican competition (SAE Aero Design Mexico 2018). Later, on March 9-11, 2018, they will travel to Florida for SAE Aero Design USA East 2018, and on April 6-8, 2018 – to California for SAE Aero Design USA West 2018.
Prestigious academic aviation competition has been held since 1986. The organizer is the International Association of Transport Engineers SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers). The partners of academic competitions are such companies like F-16 aircraft manufacturer, Lockheed-Martin, Boeing and NASA (members of these organizations are in the jury).
Poznan students worked on the competition model about half a year. The design task covers the whole production process of the aircraft. It consists of developing a concept, making a prototype and then presenting the final version for the competition.
