Students from the Faculty of Architecture of the Białystok University of Technology (PB) designed the Passage of the Polish Armed Forces in the West, which will be located in the very center of Białystok in the axis of the Branicki Palace and will connect Akademicka and Maria Skłodowskiej-Curie Streets.
Białystok veterans’ organizations chose from 36 submitted works. Combatants would like the passage to be ready before the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Monte Cassino.
The authors of the winning concept are: Magdalena Budziszewska, Tomasz Łaszczuk and Jolanta Wilczewska, students of architecture at the Faculty of Architecture of the Białystok University of Technology.
“I wanted to create a project that would attract the attention of passers-by – says Magdalena Budziszewska. The main element is a white and red ribbon, very strong and contrasting colors. Now this square is gray and hardly noticeable. The national colors also add seriousness to the project. The designed roof is meant to attract attention and add expression to the passage”, adds Budziszewska.
