A sensor project to increase the comfort of blind animals developed by two students from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at Wrocław University of Science and Technology has won the fourth University’s Business Academy competition. As a prize, the winners will go to Lisbon for the Student Festival organised as part of the Unite! Network
According to the Wrocław students, technological aids for disabled animals are still very poorly available on the market. Hence the idea to make life more comfortable for affected pets.
“Vision Pup – Sensor for increasing the comfort of blind pets”, which was developed by Zofia Plucinska and Natalia Baginska, takes the form of a special harness equipped with an ultrasonic sensor, which will help owners of blind dogs to provide their charges with greater independence and safety – regardless of the speed at which they move. The product has great potential for development, and can be extended to include a GPS system.
