The boat ‘Barka’, created by students of the AGH University of Science and Technology (AGH) in Krakow from the AGH Solar Boat Team, has been recognised as the constructionally best autonomous boat at the international RoboBoat competition in the USA. The team was awarded a financial prize of US$1,000.
The RoboBoat competition involves student teams from around the world designing autonomous robotic boats. During the competition, teams must enter several competitions to test the functionality of the autonomous boats, including navigating a fairway or recognising and avoiding obstacles.
The RoboBoat 2023 competition, which is organised by RoboNation – AUVSI Foundation, took place in Sarasota, Florida, USA. More than 20 teams from Egypt, India, Indonesia, Israel, Canada, Puerto Rico, Turkey, the USA and Poland took part, which, in addition to the AGH Solar Boat, was represented by the SimLE Scientific Club from the Gdansk University of Technology.
