Students of the 3rd year of the Faculty of Architecture at the Silesian University of Technology – Karolina Słomiany, Natalia Tadla and Kamil Wróbel – were awarded in the international competition “La Ville Vertical” Vertical City Design Competition. They located their project of a unique building in the center of Katowice.
– We have designed more than a hundred-meter building on a plot in the center of Katowice, next to the railway station. Katowice is located in one of the most polluted regions in Poland. The idea was to design a building that would not only be harmless to the environment, but also help clean the air.
The students wanted to create a place in the city center, where people could live like in the suburbs and enjoy the benefits of green areas. The building is adapted for the disabled, has a green roof available for everyone. It also has an underground parking for bicycles – thus supporting ecological communication.
