Third-year students of computer science of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science and Automation of the Lodz University of Technology Ewa Kłapcińska, Wiktor Kania and Mateusz Groblewski won the international competition for student scientific works Black Sea Science 2021.
They won the first place for the FriML application which is a tool for generating music using machine learning algorithms, made available in the form of a web application.
One of the student tutors, Dr Eng. Piotr Duch from the Institute of Applied Informatics, TUL explains, that the aim of the project was to prepare a complete solution that would allow the end user to generate new melodies with a few mouse clicks.
FriML can help artists, creators and video game designers add sound to their creations. It is extremely simple, thanks to the user’s friendly and clear interface, launched in the browser. The application allows to generate melodies of various musical genres, with different keys and instruments.
