Two students of the Faculty of Chemistry of the Maria Curie Skłodowska University in Lublin have won the “Diamond Grant”, a prestigious award of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education for graduates of bachelor’s studies or students after the third year of master’s studies conducting research and possessing outstanding scientific achievements.
This year, Minister of Science and Higher Education Jarosław Gowin awarded over PLN 16 million to finance the projects. The “Diamond Grant” program has been implemented since 2012 and provides young scientists with financial independence and paves the way to the PhD. The winners of the competition are Łukasz Baran with the project: “Computer simulations of selected molecules on solid surfaces” and Paweł Woźnicki with the project: “Combination of achiral coupling reaction type> P (O ) H and cyclic vinyl esters and asymmetric Michael addition – source of chiral 1,2-functionalized cyclohexanes for applications in organic synthesis “.
