Three students from the University of Medical Sciences in Wrocław (UMW) have won a collective special award in the “Interstudent” competition of the Educational Foundation “Perspektywy”. Helena Gebarska from Australia, Natalia Hiler from the United States and Chidubem Odera Mba coming from Nigeria/Italy were awarded for their pro-environmental team activity “Clean up Oder”.
The students have formed a group of volunteers and are cleaning up the bank of the Oder. Their meetings are attended by Medical University students of different years and faculties, Polish and foreign. This fosters their integration and exchange of experiences.
“It is unusual that the initiators and main organisers of the clean-up campaign are foreign students who are in Wrocław “for a while”, during their studies. This testifies to their great maturity, open-minded attitude and modern outlook on the future of our planet”, emphasises Katarzyna Neubauer, MD, Professor at the University of the Medical University, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Education in English.
