Students of the Opole University of Technology develop a cyber-hand

19.03.2019

Students of the Opole University of Technology (OP) have developed a cyber-hand prototype as part of their diploma thesis. Thanks to their idea, the market has a chance to find a cheap and functional prosthesis printed in 3D technology and controlled by a special glove.

The prototype is the result of the work of students of automation and robotics: “Control of robotic hand control with the help of own hand” (author Pavlo Sutysskyi) and “Physical model of human hand prosthesis using pneumatic muscles” (author – Yaroslav Antonchyk).

– The project was created for people who lost their hand. Most prostheses on the market are very expensive and only some people can afford to buy a bionic prosthesis. Our goal was to create a cheap solution, the cost of which would be around PLN 1000. Currently, our prosthesis model will be subject to further development – says the promoter and reviewer of the Opole students works, Dr Eng. Mirosław Szmajda.
