Students of the High Flyers Interfaculty Scientific Club from the Silesian University of Technology took second place in the general classification in the 7th drone competition “Droniada” at the premises of the Silesian Aeroclub in Katowice.
Members of the club took first place and won the Łukasiewicz Research Network Award in the competition “Corridor of life”. The task was to find with a drone an intruder blocking the corridor of life on the highway, identify the perpetrator and forward the report to the police.
The second competition – “Three colors” – was based on the detection of outbreaks of plant diseases: downy mildew, phytophthorosis and powdery mildew, which are distinguished by an appropriate RGB color, assigned a geometric figure and the size of the occupied surface. In this competition, Silesian students took second place.
The Droniada competitions are based on real situations in which drones can provide support. The competition is aimed at social education and popularization of unmanned and autonomous systems.
