Students at the Silesian University of Technology have become winners of the Student-Inventor competition. They received a special prize from the President of the Polish Association of Employers of the Pharmaceutical Industry for their invention “Drug feeder”.
The device can find application in places where a large group of people are administered the same type of medicine. These include hospitals, rehabilitation centres or nursing homes. The feeder – when the card is applied – prepares the patients with the correct medication, entered in a specially developed database. It is designed to speed up the work of people and reduce the risk of errors when disposing of medicines.
Work on the device is still in progress and is being carried out at the Centre for Incubation and Technology Transfer of the Silesian University of Technology. The developers plan to carry out activities to improve the prototype by, among other things, adding further functionalities and optimising some parts of the device from a mechanical point of view.
