Students of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture of the West Pomeranian University of Technology have reached the final of the competition for the design of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The contest organized by the Ministry of Interior of the Czech Republic, the Architecture Department of the Czech University of Technology in Prague and the Inspireli Awards were received by 281 works from around the world. Anna Mierzyńska and Andrzej Chuchra – students of master’s studies in the field of architecture at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture qualified for the final.
The inspiration for the creation of their project has become a symbol of the Czech Republic a leaf of lime tree. The outline of the leaf has been transformed into forms of ceramic shapes, from which the characteristic openwork shutters were designed. The whole project is designed in a laterite inspired color, a local sedimentary rock that is characteristic for regions with a humid and hot climate.
