Representatives of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology won the Student Constructions Competition KOKOS organized by the Independent Students’ Union in two categories. Their winning designs include the LEM Thunder electric motorcycle and the Scorpio Mars rover.
LEM Thunder is the first light electric motorbike in Poland adapted to rallies in difficult terrain conditions. It weighs 120 kg and has a power of 30 kW, or about 40 HP, which is a very good power to weight ratio, an extremely important factor in off-road rallies. It was developed by students from the Scientific Student Club of Vehicles and Scientific Mobile Robots. The motorcycle won the Ecology category.
The second awarded project is the Scorpio X rover, which was developed by students from the Off-Road Scientific Club. It has four-wheel drive and modular construction, which was made mainly of aviation aluminium and polyamide – light materials with excellent mechanical properties. The rover took first place in the Smart Robots category.
