Students of Wrocław University of Science and Technology presented their newest car, which will be racing on European tracks. It is probably the last internal combustion vehicle designed and developed by the Wroclaw team. The next cars will be electric.
The RT11 weighs 196 kg and has 87 horsepower at the wheels, it accelerates to 100 km per hour in three seconds. It is made of a steel frame that supports the engine and rear suspension, and a composite monocoque made of carbon fibre with an aluminium in a form of a honeycomb core.
The car is equipped with a network of almost 100 sensors necessary for the proper operation of the drive unit and monitoring the parameters of the car. Thanks to the measurement data from sensors, the designers can change and adjust the car settings to particular competitions.
Students from PWR Racing Team qualified for four Formula Student competitions. They will start in the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Italy.
