The students of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology as the only Poles qualified for the final of the cosmic Student Aerospace Challenge competition organized by The Astronaute Club Européen. On June 6, they will present their model of a six-man crew cabin for suborbital flights in Paris.
The plane, designed by the students, is 15 meters long and 10 m wide. It allows load factor about 3g, and the weightless passengers can stay in it for about three minutes. In their projects they had to consider issues of life support systems, internal pressure and ejection systems.
Beata Suścicka from the architecture department, Justyna Pelc from the IT and management department, Magdalena Łabowska and Piotr Torchała from the mechanical department worked on that solution. Student Aerospace Challenge is a competition for students from member countries of the European Space Agency. 36 teams from Europe applied for the current competition.
