Students of the architecture faculty of the Wrocław University of Technology have developed a project for the extension of the Zentralhospital Senior House in Görlitz. The university established cooperation with the local City Hall. The project was created as part of the course “Residential architecture for the elderly people”.
The architects will take care of the facility built in 1863 as a hospital for the elderly people. Currently, however, it requires expansion and adaptation to the needs of people with disabilities. The main guidelines include the creation of 6 modules with 12-14 single rooms and a common space with a kitchen, a communal dining room and a common room. The rooms were to be equipped with kitchenettes and bathrooms.
The participants of the course presented their works at a special show in Zentralhospital with the participation of representatives of local authorities, investor and lecturers of the Brandenburgische Technische Universitat from Cottbus. Currently, student projects can be viewed at the City Hall of Görlitz.
