Joanna Doskocz and Paweł Holewa from the faculty of basic technical problems at the Wrocław University of Technology have become laureates of the contest of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education “Diamond Grant”.

Paweł Holewa was awarded for the project “Investigation of optical properties of epitaxial quantum dots InAs / InP with reduced surface density for applications in fiber-optic quantum communication”, which will receive nearly 220,000. PLN funding.

Joanna Doskocz was awarded for the project “Determination of the influence of the size of lipid aggregates on their mechanical and electrostatic properties”. The student will receive over PLN 216 thousand for her research.

The first “Diamond Grants” were awarded in 2012. In this year’s seventh competition the winners were selected from among 214 young scientists in a two-stage competition procedures. They have gained over PLN 16 million in total for their research.
