Students of Wrocław University of Science and Technology students win the Reinventing Cities competition

The concept of architecture students of Wrocław University of Science and Technology won the international competition Reinventing Cities. Natalia Pączko and Mateusz Rosa have developed a project to transform the Breiðholt district in the capital of Iceland to make it more friendly for residents and tourists. 

Reinventing Cities is an initiative signed by the authorities of 19 world cities. As part of it, they organized a competition in which they indicated several dozen specific areas in their cities that required intervention.

The project to transform one of the districts of Reykjavik has been appreciated for focusing on pedestrians, designing spaces that encourage the local community to integrate and become involved in their surroundings, and proposals that provide an opportunity to create an area full of life, green and safe.

The winners decided to pass the initiative into the hands of the residents, and also focused on the promotion of public transport, walking and cycling.
